The Benidorm Town Hall has launched a new “Smart Tourism” management unit designed to enhance visitor experiences and support residents across the city’s busy tourist season.

The new technical team is tasked with running the city’s Digital Tourist Intelligence (DTI) platform. This system gathers real-time data on everything from beach water quality and parking availability to weather monitoring and environmental conditions.

Mayor Toni Pérez described the initiative as a major step toward keeping Benidorm both visitor-friendly and liveable, saying that having “a powerful management tool” will help the city stay at the top of smart destinations.

For tourists and expats alike, the new system means more reliable information – think live updates on beach conditions, parking spaces, and local amenities – all increasingly important in a resort town that welcomes thousands of visitors year-round.

Local businesses are also expected to benefit: better data means the town hall can identify neighbourhoods or spots where services may be falling short, and respond faster. For example, if a popular beach zone gets overcrowded or water-quality issues arise, the DTI platform can flag it.

While the system is operational now, full roll-out of mobile-app integration and tourist-friendly dashboards is expected in the coming months. The town hall says the initiative will grow with further features aimed at improving both daily life for residents and holiday quality for visitors.
