Benidorm young people offered €250 towards the cost of getting a driving licence

€70,000 council scheme will provide financial help to residents aged between 15 and 30
Young people in Benidorm are being offered financial help towards the cost of getting their driving licence under a new scheme approved by Benidorm Town Hall.
The council has allocated €70,000 to the programme, which is expected to help at least 280 young people with the cost of obtaining a licence.
Residents aged between 15 and 30 who meet the requirements will be able to receive up to €250 towards the cost of an ordinary driving licence.
A smaller payment of €125 will be available for those obtaining an AM licence for mopeds.
The scheme is aimed at helping young residents with the financial costs involved in learning to drive, while also improving their access to employment and mobility around the area.
Applications open in November
Applications are scheduled to open on 1 November 2026 and will remain open until 17 November.
To qualify, applicants must have been registered as residents of Benidorm before 1 January 2026 and must have obtained their licence between 1 January and 31 October 2026.
The assistance can cover eligible expenses connected with obtaining the licence, including driving school registration, theory lessons and examination fees.
Applications will be submitted electronically through Benidorm Town Hall.
The council has also indicated that the programme is expected to continue into 2027, potentially giving more young people the opportunity to benefit from the financial assistance.
The initiative forms part of the local authority's efforts to support younger residents and reduce some of the costs associated with learning to drive.
