A 33-year-old woman has been found dead following an alleged fatal stabbing in Benidorm, with three men arrested in connection with the investigation.

The National Police confirmed that the woman's body was discovered in a rural area between Benidorm and neighbouring Finestrat after officers received information from two men who went to a police station in the resort.

The woman's partner, aged 40, is suspected of killing her during an argument at their home. Two other men, aged 30 and 45, have also been arrested on suspicion of helping conceal the crime.

Police are investigating the case as a suspected gender-based killing.

Police alerted after two men report alleged killing

According to information released by the National Police, officers were alerted after two men arrived at Benidorm police station and reported that an acquaintance had told them he had killed his partner during an argument involving a knife.

The two men reportedly went to the suspect's home to check what had happened.

They subsequently told police that, following alleged threats from the suspect, they became involved in moving the woman's body to a rural area between Benidorm and Finestrat.

One of the men is alleged to have provided a vehicle for the transport, while the other allegedly helped move the body.

Following the information provided, officers launched an investigation and located the woman's remains in the countryside.

The main suspect was arrested shortly afterwards at his home, with the two other men also taken into custody over their alleged involvement.

All three men are suspected of offences connected with the killing and its concealment. The investigation remains ongoing.

Benidorm declares official day of mourning

Benidorm Town Hall declared an official day of mourning from 3pm on Monday, 28 September, following the woman's death.

The council also announced a five-minute silent gathering for Tuesday, 29 September, at 11am in Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España.
